RECORDS REPORT 2020
Maintaining the records for the engines and implements is an ongoing process that can have no end even if it is only to update changes of ownership or alterations to the status of the items that have survived and that we know about. This task is far more interesting however with the ongoing restoration of engines and tackle by enthusiasts, new finds and contact with others seeking information – all of which needs to be added.
In the past three years since the publication in 2017 of the United Kingdom and Overseas Engine and Implement list No. 9 by the Steam Plough Club there have been a considerable number of additions and amendments. These changes, prepared in October 2020, are available for viewing and to download. They are in the same A5 format as the publication so print, fold in half and slip them into your Engine List!
In addition, an updated List of Ploughing Engines in the UK and Ireland was prepared in September 2020 and is also now available for your information.
The Club’s website provides a window into the history of steam ploughing and its activities and is a magnet for anyone searching for information about the steam plough. It has generated many enquiries, and these have provided photographs and much new information to add to the records. It has been maintained for more than 20 years by John Billard and web designer Anne Garrison to whom thanks are extended.
Please help us keep the records up to date. Contact the Secretary or any member of the Committee with information, photos, queries, etc.
